Music Programmer

John-Paul McVea

John-Paul de Lachrimae, a.k.a. John-Paul McVea, programs channels of classical music. During his life he hopes to absorb and pass on knowledge that came from before. Did you know that Johann Sebastian Bach wrote the Well-Tempered Clavier intending for it to be a manual of keyboard instruction? The objective was to train church organists. Lachrimae is fortunate to live in Montreal where there are such beautiful church organs, and a personal goal is to rattle some stained glass windows with his own fingertips.

The viola and the dulcimer round out his musical trifecta. Lachrimae has one book and one pop song to his name. He has been to Ephesus, the city of Troy, and the Church of St. Nicholas at Demre, and has seen an olive tree, a Joshua tree, a palm tree, and a cypress tree. This was before he learned to travel light. The future includes a pilgrimage in Spain, a stint in Portland, Oregon, and a great migration to see penguins in Chile, if by that time there are any left. His favourite folk song includes the line, “One bright morning, when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away.”
